Easy Steps to Improve Your Article Writing

A lot of people think of article writing as a boring, laborious and tedious task, especially when they think that nobody would read the articles. But articles are supposed to be read, and share information. Knowing this, that should give you reasons to see writing not as a waste of time and effort.

People write articles so others can read them. It is important therefore to make sure that these articles are written well. And article writing doesn’t have to be to be strenuous and straining. The key here is to establish some points and guidelines in article writing. Once you learn the ropes, writing articles can be fun and profitable for your online business at the same time.

If you own a blog or website, article writing is the bread and butter of your online presence. Because you need to be knowledgeable about a topic when you write articles, it’s expected that you know a lot about the theme or topics of your website. When you start writing articles or content for your site, you will not find it a drag to write these articles because you know a lot about the topic. It’s just a matter of making your articles come alive with your creativity.

So how do you make your articles readable and interesting? Listed below are six good ideas to make sure your articles are read by your audience.

1) Use short paragraphs. When the paragraphs are incredibly long, the words get jumbled in the mind of the reader so that just by looking at it, they can be confusing and would tire them out easily. The reader will just quickly disregard the paragraphs in your article and look for articles that are easier to read. Some paragraphs can be a single sentence, and even a single word!

2) Use numbers or bullets. These are used to stress a point, enumerate a list or highlight ideas. A bullet points and numbers bullet help readers identify your key ideas in your articles and makes them easier to read. Bullet points also helps readers get your message in bite-size chunks that are easier to digest in the mind. Here’s an important tip: Format your bullets and numbers with indentations so that your article won’t look like a single block of square paragraphs. By doing this, you help break the monotony of an article which is just a large block of text.

3) Use subheadings to break your paragraphs. This will avoid the sea of text that could drown your user. Also by doing this, you would help the reader move from one point to another seamlessly because the sub headers introduce new ideas and help transition the flow of thoughts in the article; the transition would be smooth and straightforward. You will never lose your readers attention.

4) Provide a good attention-grabbing title or header. If your title can entice a person’s curiosity you’re already halfway in convincing the person to read your article. You can also use statements and questions use keywords that people use to find your article. Titles or headers must describe what your article is about and yet they need to also be concise and short.

Use titles that appeal to people’s emotions and needs for satisfaction. Titles like “Tips on making her want you more”, or “How to make her swoon and blush”. Also titles that offer solutions do work. like, “Make her yours in six effortless Ways”. These types of titles reach out to people’s need to satisfaction and solutions to their problems.

5) Keep them interested from the start to the finish. Tip: Use graphic metaphors and similes that would make it easy for readers to imagine what you might be talking about, making the experience pleasurable and enjoyable for them.

6) Use figures of speech when necessary. This will help avoid just ordinary and insipid statements. Make use of facts and figures to make your article authoritative. Also don’t make it too formal; make it conversational, as if you’re talking to a best friend.

Search Engine Friendly Pages

There is no point in building a website unless you will find guests coming in. A major supply of visitors for most sites on the Internet is search engines like Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Altavista and so on. Hence, by designing a search engine friendly site, you will probably be able to rank easily in search engines and obtain more guests.

Major search engines use programs called crawlers or robots to index websites to list on their search result pages. They follow links to a page, reads the content of the page and record it in their own database, pulling up the listing as people search for it.

If you want to make your site indexed effortlessly, you should steer clear of using frames on your website. Frames will only confuse search engine robots and they might even abandon your site simply because of that. Moreover, frames make it hard for users to bookmark a particular page on your website without using long, complicated scripts.

Don’t present essential information in Flash movies or in images. Search engine robots can only read text on your source code so if you present essential words in Flash movies and images instead of textual form, your search engine ranking will probably be affected dramatically.

Use meta tags accordingly on each and every page of your site so that search engine robots know at first glance what that specific page is about and whether or not to index it. By using meta tags, you’re making the search engine robot’s job easier so they will crawl and index your site more frequently.

Stop using wrong HTML tags like to fashion your page. Use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) instead because they’re more effective and efficient. By using CSS, you can eliminate redundant HTML tags and make your pages much lighter and quicker to load.

Blogs – Freedom Of Thought And Expression

A person who writes his or her thoughts on an online journal is a blogger, while a blog is the online journal he or she would post the articles on. Blog entries are arranged by date, making it look like a virtual diary of sorts. The blog is also a forum for exchange of ideas and opinions as the reader can, in turn, if he wishes write his own comments to the blog. Truly, blogging has become a very popular means of communication with its own terms of the trade.

Since its inception in around 1994, blogging has evolved from being personal views and diaries to news and commentary blogs. The question is, are blogs just random thoughts and personal expressions or are they similar to well sourced traditional journalism?

The best place to put blogging would be right smack dab in between talk show journalism and the real, professional reporting we get on the news. It’s similar to how text messaging made an impact on language – blogging can make its own huge impact on journalism. What blogging brings to the fore is unfettered freedom of expression. The writers give flight to their inner voice and just as medieval writers of the periods of revolution did, state in no uncertain terms what they perceive as facts. And there are no editors to make changes or any political parties to censor what’s stated on a blog.

Blogging has caught the imagination of the young and old and established writers, lawyers, techies, and other professionals are using the avenue to “spread their thoughts and words.” And it’s little wonder that some of the most popular blogs are those that deal with “opinion journalism”. These are the perfect way for those with ideas to let them all out for everyone to read.

You can upload your writings via .pdf file or use your blog site’s blogging software – in any case, people will be flocking to your site to read it in no time. No longer do you need to beg, borrow and steal for the local editor to publish your work. If your blog takes off, who knows – millions can be viewing your site per day.

Some mainstream journalists don’t think much of blogging, due to the potential for inaccurate information and one-sided opinions. These mainstream journalists aren’t seeing the big picture, as blogs give people a chance to see the flip side of the coin, the bright side when everyone’s thinking of the worst, or vice versa. A lot of war victims and soldiers have their own blogs who give people a first-hand view of the horrors they experience. Not all blogs are random thought, and writers often provide sources and links so that readers can verify facts. And you can often see news on blog sites before you watch it on TV or read it on the news websites. There are several bloggers who have established a reliable reputation in what they do.

The aspects of trust, credibility, integrity, transparency, and ethics are what US lawmakers feel bloggers need to follow religiously. And there are bloggers who make it their mission to tell the truth, the truth, and nothing but the truth, the truth most people cannot handle, correct inaccuracies, and post links that serve as corroborating evidence to prove what they’re saying is correct. Freedom must be savored and not misused.

Blogging, the creation of pure love for writing and opinions, is all set to establish new trends in journalism. It gives wing to the freedom of thought and the written word.
