Rewriting PLR Articles and Ebooks: Who Should Do The Work?
You might very well be able to boost your profitability online by using private label rights products (PLR) such as ebooks and articles. The idea is that by using such resources that are already written and researched, you may speed up the creation of articles and e-books in your online marketing.
The catch, however, is that using such PLR resources is not as fast or painless as many salesmen would like you to believe. It is, in other words, not really a good idea to just buy some off-the-shelf PLR article or ebook, spend a few minutes on it, and then publish it as your own. There is more work involved.
Background
The difficulty is this: to be able to make the most of it, one has to thoroughly edit the Private Label Rights content considerably, not just slightly. This is to ensure that the search engine robots are going to index the text favourably, and to make sure that the customers are not bumping into e-books and articles that they have already read somewhere else.
The idea, then, is to change the material in different ways. One way to do that could be to either rearrange or delete paragraphs. Other ways might be to expand paragraphs and add new points: for example, one might want to add a new argument, some new data, or some new questions and answers. Or one might insert some fresh pictures or photographs that would be useful.
But Where Is the Time?
But perhaps are you now asking the question: “How in the whole world will I practically have time to do that? I mean, I acquired the PLR products in the first place to steer clear of having to do a lot of labor. So why am I now looking at the very same work that I tried to stay away from?”
But that is not really the case. Even though a revision of a document, whether it is an ebook or article, surely involves the “same” type of actions (namely writing, editing, researching, etc.), the total amount of work is still much less than if one would do the whole lot from nothing.
Furthermore, you might not need to do all that rewriting and rearranging yourself either. You might use the help of other parties to finish off the editing process. Here are some possible alternatives so that you can get the rewriting of your PLR e-book or PLR article completed: (1) Make use of software; (2) Use a ghostwriter; (3) Call a guest blogger; (4) Do the editing yourself.
1. Utilizing Software Packages
There are software products in the market which can be used to rewrite (sometimes “spinning”) PLR articles and e-books to construct new ebooks and articles. But you must be very watchful. Some programs can modify the “feeling” of the article or ebook, or use poorly selected synonyms for words and terms that either may change your material into garbage or at least make it sound strange in some way.
It is therefore very important for you to always be sure to double-check “spinned” texts. You may need to manually edit the text further.
2. Using an External Writer
Appointing a professional freelancer to produce completely original material to a website might be almost impossible for a new website owner, given that really innovative material could be quite pricy.
Nevertheless, since you already have bought the Private Label Rights articles or ebooks, the task is not to write innovative material from scratch, but only to do a rewrite using different words and phrases, and possibly also elaborating on some of the arguments here and there.
It may be even better plan many small jobs at once, in order to get a better quote. Tell the freelancer to rewrite, say, 15 articles or 3 ebooks at a time, so that you can get a better price per paragraph or page.
3. Contact a Guest Blogger
Perhaps you would like to contact a guest blog writer to write on your blog? You might tell him or her that you have PLR material that he or she might draw on. In that manner you might be able to generate new content for your blog without you being forced to do any editing yourself.
The difficulty with this idea is, however, that the guest blogger may expect to get paid, or to obtain some other favour from you. Every deal is different, and you have assess the arrangement when you know what is on the table, to see whether or not it is worth it.
4. Doing It All by Yourself
If you are one of those who really love writing, then you might consider doing all of the editing work all on your own. If that is your thing, then you will not be overly panic-stricken by the amount of rewriting work that is needed, since you would know that it still is significantly less work than writing anything from scratch.
The benefit of doing the work yourself is that you have absolute control over the final outcome, both stylistically speaking and content-wise. Supposedly you also have direct knowledge of whatever subject matter it is that your articles and ebooks are covering, and hence you will probably be able to edit the private label rights texts quicker and better than a writer who doesn’t have your particular background and experience.
Conclusion
PLR articles and ebooks are great assets. But they must be substantially rewritten to be lucratively used in your business.
The good news is that you do not necessarily have to do all of the editing yourself (but the result may be better if you do do it). Additional ways to provide a modification of the PLR material may be to utilize some “spinning” software product, to contact freelance ghost writers, or to contact a guest blog writer.
